The Track and Field events of the 33rd All Island School Games will be held from October 11 to 15 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex, Diyagama.
The event is conducted by the Ministry of Education.
5,121 athletes from nine provinces will be taking part in the event.
The events are being conducted under five age categories.
They are Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 (girls and boys).
Since the age categories have been changed, there will be no new records.
They will be recorded as best performances.
These performances will be considered as new records next year.
There are 28 sports in the All Island School Games.
To date nearly 15 team events have been concluded.
Team events will be continues up to October 15.
The chief guest will be President Maithripala Sirisena on October 15 at 3.30pm.
