University of Sri Jayawardenapura won the Overall Championship with a total of 357.5 points at the 12th Sri Lanka University Games 2016 concluded at the Wayamba University, Kuliyapitiya.
This year's games was hosted by the Wayamba University in collaboration with the Sri Lanka University Sports Association was declared open by Prof. Mohan de Silva Chairman University Grants Commission on September 1 and with the participation of Vice Chancellors of 14 universities.
The closing ceremony was held on September 13 at the Wayamba University premises with Sri Lanka national 100m hurdles record holder and South Asian Games Gold meddalist Sriyani Kulawansa gracing the occasion as Chief Guest.
Over 1000 undergrads from 14 universities participated in the event and they batted for 35 championships over 22 games.
University of Colombo with 344 points became the 1st runner-up in the Overall Championship. University of Sri Jayawardenapura secured the Men's championship with a total of 212 points ahead of University of Colombo with 189 points.
Women's championship was won by University of Colombo with a total of 155 points followed by University of Sri Jayawardenapura University with 145.5 points.
