The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Interim Committee has decided to go on with the services Interim Coach Jerome Jayaratne till the end of the New Zealand tour. Chairman SLC Interim Committee Sidath Wettimuny said; “So far Jayaratne has been doing a job that is satisfactory and I do not see any wisdom in changing the status quo. At the same time it is more than fair that the administration who will be taking over after the January AGM should have the prerogative of accomplishing that task.” Then speaking about the forthcoming zonal tournament the SLC authorities have decided to name the tournament as the Elite Cricket Championship. Wettimuny said that five participating team will be named – Colombo, Galle, Kandy, Kurunegala and Hambantota. Wettimuny has taken an assurance by the Minister of Sports, not to change this new format for at least three years.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
