Colombo FC and Renown SC qualified for the semi-finals of the Cargills Food City FA Cup Football Tournament played on Saturday (14) at the Racecourse ground in Colombo.
In the first quarter-final defending champions Colombo FC defeated new comers Mannar Hillary SC 15-1 in a one-sided game while in the second quarter-final match Renown beat Java Lane SC 5-1 to book berths for the semis.
In the first quarter-final Cameroon player T.F.B. Dimitri hogged the limelight by scoring seven goals including a double hat-trick out of the Colombo FC's 15 goals which stands a record in the 2015-16 FA Cup tournament.
A.C. Frank and K.A.D. Madusanka netted 3 goals each while A.R.A. Shazny and M.R.M. Risni scored a goal each Colombo FC.
S. Jesudasan netted the solitary goal for Mannar Hillary in the second-half. Colombo FC led 7-0 in the first half.
Renown too scored an easy victory over Java Lane in the second QF leading 3-0 in the first half.
Goal scorers for Renown were M.C.M. Rifnaz, O. Job Michale, Mohmaed Fazal, and A.M. Abdul Azlam were the main scorers with for the winners and Java Lane's Chamara de Silva scored an own goal to make the final tally five goals.
Naveen Jude was the only scorer for Java Lane.
Semi-finals and finals of the FA Cup Football Championship will be played on May 20 and 28 respectively.
