Ratnam FC thrashed New Star SC 4-0 to clinch the Gold Cup Football Tournament played for the Lawrence Fernando Memorial Trophy at the CR and FC ground in Longdon Place on Thursday (21).
Shiraz Cader scored the first goal as Ratnams led the halftime by 1-0.
A double from Mohamed Hakeem and Sasanka Jayasekara in the second half secured Ratnams a comfortable 4-0 win.
Eventual winners Ratnams, losing finalists New Star SC, Eveready SC, Sunny Mount, Kirulapana United, Colons, Old Bens and Old Wesley Sports Club participated in this tournament, organised by Colombo Football League.
In addition to the trophy Ratnams received a cash award of Rs. 50,000 while New Star SC received Rs. 25,000 and the runner-up trophy.
