Sri Lanka Air Force Women’s team emerged Women’s Champions at 9th Defence Service Handball Championship 2016.
In the final SLAF women met Sri Lanka Army which gave the real taste of a final as the game swung from side to side till the final whistle was blown in the favour of the Airwomen.
As both sides forwards kept invading the opponents’ goal area giving overtime work for the backs in clearing away the rampaging forwards.
Both sides missed some easy opportunities but the better organised Airwomen in the latter stages emerged champs with a 17-11 victory.
Air Vice Marshal JP Wanigatunge of SLAF graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Chairman SLAF Handball Air Commodore Janaka Nanayakkara, Officers and Other Ranks of the Tri-Forces were also present at the occasion.
