MCA Cricket: Division 'F' reaches Pre-quarterfinal stage

The 2nd Commercial Credit and Finance PLC sponsored , MCA 'F' division 25 Over League Tournament 2017 has entered its pre-quarter final stage. 

At the completion of the League Stage matches (75 half day matches) the following top 16 teams from the five groups advanced to the elimination round: Brandix Essentials 'B' (20 points, NRR 3.421), WNS Global (16 points, NRR 0.468) and Technomedics International (12 points, NRR -0.248) from Group 'A'; 

Janashakthi Insurance and Stafford Motors (16 points, NRR 1.302), Palliyaguruge Group (12 points, NRR 1.698) and Hirdaramani Group (16 points, NRR 1.302) from Group 'B'; HSBC 'C' (16 points, NRR -0.344), Hayleys Group 'C' (20 points, NRR 5.897) and Totalamber (12 points, NRR 0.912) from Group 'C'; Allianz Insurance (8 points, NRR -0069), Textured Jersey 'B' (20 points, NRR 3.684) and Access Group (16 points, NRR 3.060) from Group 'D'; Akbar Bros. (16 points, NRR 1.834), Asia Capital (10 points, NRR 0.026), Prym Intimates (16 points, NRR 2.267) and Teejay Lanka from Group 'E'. 

The Weekend’s top performers were: Dinesh Tharaka from Textured Jersey 'B' (102 not out in 56 balls, inclusive of three sixes and 12 fours Vs. Fairway Holdings); Dilshan Indrasinghe from HSBC 'C' (4.4 -0-14-5 Vs. Totalamber); Harsha de Silva from Palliyaguruge Group (90 in 58 balls, two sixes and 12 fours Vs. MAS Linea Aqua ); the 112 runs partnership for the third wicket in 69 balls between Kavinda de Silva (67) and Roshan Mahawatte from Access Group Vs. MBSL Insurance and the 101 runs partnership for the seccond wicket in 74 balls between F. Ahamed (67) and S. Amunugama 55 not out from EB Creasey Vs. Ansell Textiles. 

MAS Kreeda created MCA history when they declared three differently able players (deaf anddumb) in their team declaration; this put the Match Referee, Pemlal Fernando and the Umpires, A.D. Indunil and Viraj Nishantha in a quandary. Out of the three players two were substitutes and the player who played, bowled a couple of overs and when appealing he put his hands up in the air and waited for the umpire’s response.
