Motorsports: Singapore drivers dominate 1st Leg of 'X30 Asia Cup' Karting Championship

Singapore drivers dominated the 1st leg of the 'X30 Asia Cup' which is the first time a Karting event of this magnitude and importance took place in Sri Lanka and in South Asia, at the newly re-laid Sri Lanka Karting Circuit in Bandaragama. 

Of the 5 categories of races, 4 were won by Singapore racers to occupy Pole Positions. 

An exciting couple of days of exciting wheel control, for Kart racers and motor sports enthusiasts was witnessed at this inaugural event well organised by David Peiris Group of Companies. 

Eshan Peiris of RL Karting Club was the only Lankan Karter, of the 6 local competitors to finish second in the Senior category. 

As expected, Yevan David, the 2017 X30 SEA Cadet Champion finished on top in the Cadet category. 

In the Junior category Lankan Anish Ranasinghe failed to come in the first three, while the best timing was by Kalen Chin of Singapore who came first. 

In the Master category Lankan Dinesh Pathirana finished third, while the best timing was by Jason Burns of Singapore. 

In the Veterans category Shyamal Mendis, an Independent driver, finished 3rd behind Jeremy Lee of Singapore. 

Five more rounds will be held at various locations abroad, with the winners of the X30 Asia Cup decided at the conclusion of the 6th Round.

Cadet category: 1. Yewan David (Singapore - G51 Motorsport team) 57.629, 2. William John Riley (Philippines - (PSR) 57.798, 3. Emiliano Cyrus (Singapore - Autoinc Racing) 58.025 

Junior category: 1. Kalen Chin (Singapore - Autoinc Racing) 52.881, 2. Wahyu Norhashim (Singapore Autoinc Racing) 52.950, 3. Daniel Hakimi (Singapore - Autoinc Racing) 53.178 

Senior category: Prassetyo Hardja (Indinesia - Stratos Motorsports) 53.198, 2. Eshan Pieris (Sri Lanka - RL Karting)52.146, 3.Alex Huang (Singapore - Autoinc Racing) 52.116 

Master category: Jason Burns (Singapore - Autoinc Racing 53.302, 2. Ang Kok Wee (Singapore - 7 Racing), 3. Dinesh Pathirana (Sri Lanka - DPRL Racing) 54.276 

Veterans category: 1. Lee Lung Nien (Singapore - 7 Racing) 53.939, 2. Jeremy Lee (Singapore - RL Karting) 53.940, 3. Adrian Ferguson (Singapore - Stratos Motorsports) 53.723
