The Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC) the pioneering motor sports club in the south has organised the Rally Sri Lanka 2016 at Hingurana, Ampara from August 5 to 7.
The ceremonial opening will be held at the Ampara Public ground at 8.00pm on August 5.
The 500-kilometre rally will be held in two stages both starting off at 7.00am on August 6 and 7 at the Ampara Public ground.
The first stage will end at 6.00pm at the starting point on August 6 while Stage II will end at 4.00pm on the August 7.
The awards ceremony will commence at 5.00pm at the Main ground.
The course for Rally Sri Lanka 2016 has been plotted be SMSC's rally guru Andrew Silva who is also the clerk of the meet while the event is being organised by a committee headed by Azhar Hamim.
Entries will open on July 12 and close on July 26 and entry forms could be downloaded from SMSC website www.rallysrilanka.com.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
