D.M.I.S.S. Dunukara of North Central Province and Dinusha Dilhani of Southern Province emerged winners in the Men's and Women's categories in the Race Walking Championships of the 42nd National Sports Festival concluded at Battaramulla on Saturday (2).
The competitions for both men and women were conducted in a distance of 20kms, around the German Friendship bridge in Battaramulla.
Southern Province clinched the women's team championship while North Central Province won the men's team title.
Uva Provice finished runner-up in the women's event and the third place was occupied by Western Province.
In the men's event, third place was won by Western Province and Central Province finished in third position.
Department of Sports Development of the Sports Ministry conducted this edition of the Race Walking Championship.

Men: D.M.I.S.S. Dunukara (North Central Province) 1:37.07secs; 2. G. Shamal Chandima (Western Province) 1:37.48secs; 3. P.G.S. Niroshan Appuhamy (Western Province) 1:41.24secs.
Women: 1. Dinusha Dilhani (South Province) 1:54.28secs; 2. U.N. Kalhari (Western Province) 1:55.59secs; 3. J.K.K.M.C. Damayanthi (Uva Province) 1:59.01secs.
