Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Rohitha Rajapaksa have been removed as captains of Navy Sports Club and Army Sports Club respectively according to reports. The Rajapaksa siblings, sons of former President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa, have been removed with immediate effect by the higher authorities of the two military institutions. They were appointed last year to lead the two sides respectively in the ongoing Dialog Division ‘A’ League Tournament and the Clifford Cup Knockout Championship. The reasons behind their removals or their commitment with the clubs as players are yet unclear. It is understood that Rohitha Rajapaksa has made an official request to the Sri Lanka Army officials to grant him permission to continue as a player in the remaining Dialog Division ‘A’ games.
