Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) named the Test squad for the upcoming three-match series against India with the exclusion of Kusal Mendis, a promising talent.
However, the SLC selectors have brought in former skipper Angelo Mathews, Dhananjaya de Silva and also given a place to newcomer Sadeera Samarawickrama in the squad along with Roshen Silva.
In addition to top order batsman Mendis, Sri Lanka has also dropped opener Kaushal Silva, which the selectors say after their poor form against Pakistan, played recently in the Middle East.
Though former captain Angelo Mathews was rated fit after he was sidelined for the recent series due to an injury, allrounder Asela Gunaratne is yet to recover and was not named to the Test squad.
Sri Lanka Test squad: Dinesh Chandimal (Captain), Dimuth Karunarathne, Niroshan Dickwella, Dhananjaya de Silva, Sadeera Samarawickrema, Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Thirimanne, Rangana Herath, Suranga Lakmal, Dilruwan Perera, Lahiru Gamage, Lakshan Sandakan, Vishwa Fernando, Dasun Shanaka, Roshen Silva.
