The visiting Sri Lankans were badly placed at 97-5 at stumps against the New Zealand Board President’s XI in the three-day warm up game ahead of the two Tests at Queenstown Events Centre on Thursday (3).
NZBP XI won the toss and put the Sri Lankans into bat.
Opener Dimuth Karunaratne resisted with an unbeaten 49 which came off 103 deliveries as Udara Jayasundera made 21 off 68 balls.
Top batsmen including skipper Angelo Mathews (3), Dinesh Chandimal (0) and Kithruwan Vithanage (4) could not impress with the bat.
Tim Johnson took three wickets while Neil Wagner claimed two scalps.
