Hussain Ahmed Mohamed Rimzan of Moors Sports Club thrashed S.M. Thaha of MICH by 6 frames to nil in the final of the 67th National Snooker Championship played at the Automobile Association of Ceylon.
Rimzan outclassed 18-year-old Thaha in the best of 11-frame final to lift his maiden national title, as he won all five frames played during the first session.
Rimzan, 27, has represented Sri Lanka at the Asian championship both as a junior and senior, entered the final by outclassing veteran M.M. Mubeen 5-0 of Sri Lanka Army in the semi-final.
Rimzan has been in the national rankings for the past nine years, won the National Billiards Championship last year and was the runner-up this year.
In the third place playoff Ashique Hussain of Moors SC beat former national champion Mubeen by 2 frames to 1.
