Super T20: Allround Troopers defeat Guardians by 26 runs

An allround performance by the Hambantota Troopers players enabled them to beat Galle Guardians by 26 runs in a SLC Super Twenty20 Championship match played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday (1).

Troopers, electing to bat posted 148-8 and bowled out the Guardians for 122 with five deliveries to spare. 

For Troopers, middle-order batsman Priyamal Perera top scored with a knock of 35 which came off 26 deliveries inclusive of three fours and two sixes. 

Sandun Weerakkody hit 26 off 21 balls with three fours while Thilaksha Sumanasiri and Suraj Randiv captured two wickets each. 

Chaminda Bandara, Amila Aponso, Isuru Udana and Dilshan Munaweera picked a wicket each. 

Chasing 149 for victory, Guardians lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually were bowled out for 122 with skipper Dinesh Chandimal top scoring. 

Chandimal hit 31 off 29 deliveries hitting two boundaries as opener Lahiru Milantha smashed 25 off 14 balls with three fours and a six. 

Suraj Randiv hit 21 off 17 with a six but Lahiru Gamage and Malinda Puchpakumara were right on spot as they picked three wickets each. 

Asanka Silva and Thilan Thushara claimed two wickets each.
