Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officially announced today (19) that leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay would take injured Lasith Malinga’s place in the Sri Lanka squad for the ongoing ICC Twenty20 Cricket World Championship in India.
“Upon obtaining of necessary approvals from the Technical Committee of the ICC, Sri Lanka Cricket is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Vandersay will be joining the Sri Lanka team at the ICC WT20 currently underway in India,” the official statement issued by SLC said.
Vandersay, 26, who first got himself noticed with an 8-wicket haul against Pakistan in a three-day game, has been slated by some Sri Lankan greats as a potential future sensation if he stays true to the basics.
