Commercial Credit and Finance and MAS Intimates won the Men’s Division ‘A’ and Women’s Division ‘A’ championships respectively of the Mercantile Knockout Table Tennis Championship conducted by the Mercantile Table Tennis Association at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium in Mt. Lavinia.
More than 40 teams from 19 companies took part in the tournament. The Men’s Division ‘A’ championship winning Commercial Credit and Finance team was inclusive of Chameera Ginige, Sukitha Wickramanayake, Pubudu Channaka, R.E Egodage and K.W. Ajith Keerthi.
Srimali Wimalarathne, Kalpani Herath and Upeka Kotinkaduwa formed the MAS Intimates team. Two special awards were given to Rajiva Wijetunge and Wasantha Perera at the closing ceremony of this championship. Wijetunga was given the award for his three years of dedicated service to the Mercantile Table Tennis Association as the president.
Wasantha Perera was given the award as he is retiring from the Mercantile Sector after completing 35 years in Mercantile Table Tennis.
