Tennis in Sri Lanka will seek to explore the money-spinning side of the sport with the launch of the Sri Lanka Premier Tennis League (SLTPL) beginning from Thursday (30) at the Queen's Club Courts in Colombo.
The three-day tournament will end on Saturday (July 2) but during that phase it will see Sri Lanka's cream of tennis players pooled into four teams and trying to become the best among the best.
The teams -- the SLT Tuskers, NSB Jaguars, Cargills Eagles and the Crown Sharks -- will include consist of ten players each.
Each team will include a men's player, two women players, two veteran players, a corporate player, junior players, a captain and a manager.
The teams will play against each other in the round robin stage where a tie consists of five sets, divided among players Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Open Doubles, Junior Boy’s Singles and Veteran Doubles segments.
Matches are expected to begin at 5.00pm on each day and the tournament will be played for the JAT SLTPL Championship.
