Reigning Sri Lanka women’s champion Thisuri Molligoda won the Women's Singles at the Week 1 of the Asian Tennis Tour (ATT) played at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Colombo.
Molligoda beat India's Bhasin Vikram 6-2, 6-2 in the final.
Sri Lanka was represented by Molligoda, Hasindhi Lokuge, Anika Seneviratne, Prabuddhi Perera, Kaumini Nawaragodagedara, Sathi S. Silva, Amritha Muttiah, Kemalie Herath and Nethmi Waduge.
Ritika Yadav, Arushi Vikram Bhasin and Harshita Chugh turned out for India.
Molligoda beat Prabuddhi Perera 6-3, 6-1 and Anika Seneviratne 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 before reaching the final.
Bhasin beat compatriot Chugh 7-6 (4), 6-3 and Muttiah 6-1, 6-7 (1), 6-3 to reach the final.
The Women’s Singles Week 2 will be held from January 20 to 22.
