The Sri Lanka Under-18s Sevens Rugby team is set to take part in the Youth Commonwealth Games which will take place in the Bahamas from July 17 to 23.
The Sri Lanka Under-18s, which won the Asian Under-18s Rugby Sevens Series under the captaincy of S. Thomas' College winger Naveen Henakankanamge, has qualified for the important competition where top countries are set to field strong sides.
The Under-18s Rugby Sevens team will be coached by former Sri Lanka winger M.J.M. Mushtaq.
However most of the players who won the Asian Under-18s Series will not be eligible to represent Sri Lanka at the Youth Commonwealth Games due to age category restrictions.
Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association will conduct a series of trials to pick the final squad by end of April.
