Naveen Henakankanamge, the innovative wing-three-quarter of S. Thomas' College First XV side, has been named as the skipper of the Sri Lanka Under-18s Rugby Sevens team for the Asian Schools Sevens Championship, which will be held in Hong Kong next weekend.
Isipathana centre Sumudu Rankotge has been appointed as deputy to Henakankanamge of the side, currently training under Mohamed Mushtaq, a former Sri Lanka, CR and FC and Zahira College winger.
The final squad of 12 for the Asian Schools Sevens Championship, will be released by the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union on Monday (18) after the final trails.
The Sri Lanka Under-18 Sevens team is expected to leave for Hong Kong on Thursday (21).
Sri Lanka competes in Group ‘B’ alongside Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Mongolia.
