St. Joseph's College beat Wesley College 26-16 in the opening Cup Segment match of the Singer Schools Under-19 Rugby League Championship at Havelock Park today (11).
At halftime the Joes led by 14-8 and scored from a total of four tries and three conversions, with Gemunu Chethiya scoring a hat-trick.
Wesley led soon after the halftime briefly, but lost momentum while scoring off two unconverted tries and two penalties.
