The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) will commence the second leg of the Singer Schools Rugby League Championship 2019, after it is given clearance from Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Sports, a top official stated.
The second leg of the Schools League was scheduled to kick off from April 20 and only the match from the Plate Championship between Kingswood College and Sri Sumangala College was played at Nittawela, while the rest of the games were not player following Easter Sunday's suicide attacks on three upscale hotels in Colombo and three churches.
The SLSRFA will conduct a Committee Meeting on April 26 prior to making necessary arrangements to seek clearance from the three ministries.
The officials intend to commence the second leg of the Schools Rugby League during first week of May, but subject to authorization from the three ministries.
In case the tournament is further delayed, the SLSRFA are looking at options in continuing the competition during August, after the GCE Advance Level examinations or decide the League Championship based on the completed first round.
