U-20 Rugby: Avishka and Wesley still dominant factors of Singer-ST Most Popular 2017

Sport

Avishka Lee and his team Wesley College are still the dominant factors of the Singer-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Ruggerite of the Year and Most Popular Rugby Team of Year 2017 competitions.

The competition is now in its ninth week and Lee seems unmovable from the top spot among a long list of 32 players. His tally has reached 2728 by this week, and leads the next in line, Sasindu Rathnaweera of Ananda College, by 1830 votes.

Lee, as he is known for his on-field frolics, does maintain a healthy pace weekly, not putting the position in jeopardy.

Sasindu remains at second ahead of Isipathana College skipper, Sumudu Rankothge, who is progressing gradually.

At fourth is Royal College skipper Ovin Askey while Yuzraan Lantra of Zahira College remains at fifth.

In the team competition Lee's side, Wesley continues to lead with 2725 votes while Ananda and Isipathana remains at second and third respectively for yet another week.

Royal, at fourth, has the potential to challenge others.

The competitions, which enables readers to vote for their most preferred school Rugby player of the ongoing Singer Schools Division I Rugby League Championship 2017, will run until July 30.
The Sunday Times, along with Wijeya Newspapers publications -- Daily Mirror, Daily

Lankadeepa and Ada -- will publish coupons for 15 continuous weeks.

The count began on April 23. The coupons are numbered for each week from 1 to 15 with the deadline set on Thursdays of each week. Names of players shown in the list are those with 30 and above votes.
