Vidyartha College Kandy beat Ananda College Colombo by 32-10 to retain the Gopallawa Shield for the second year running in their 46th traditional rugby fixture played at the Police Park on Sunday (5).
Vidyartha led the halftime 12-10 and scored from six tries and a conversion as Hashan Fernando, Chathuranga Perera, Dileepa Madusanka, Dushantha Athukorala, Samantha Weerasinghe and Vinod Umayanga scored a try each for the winners.
Chathuranga Perera converted a try successfully.
Ananda scored both their tries during the first half as Upul Bandara and Harosh Gimhana touched down for them.
With the win Vidyartha have won the William Gopallawa Shield for the 25th occasion while Ananda have won it 21 times.
