The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation has taken a decision and has picked two pools in preparation for the Asian Junior Volleyball Championships.
Already 19 boys and 19 girls have been picked for the event and they are currently under training at Torrington Square and Heyantuduwa.
The boys are training for the 18th Asian Men’s Under 20 Volleyball Championships to be held in Chinese Taipei from July 9 to 17.
The girls are training for the 18th Asian Women’s Under 19 Volleyball Championship to be held in Thailand from July 23 to 30.
Residential training have commenced for both competitions said A.S. Nalaka, Secretary Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation.
The boys are training at the Torrington Hostel Indoor Stadium and the girls are in training at Heyantuduwa.
The coaches have been appointed.
The boys Head Coach is Channa Jayasekera. Nishan Indika is the Assistant Coach and the Trainer Susiri Mangala Kumara.
The women’s Head Coach is Janaka Indrajith with Sumeda Wimalaweera as the Assistant Coach.
The Trainer is S. Champika.
The final selections for both teams will take place on June 10 at the Colombo Torrington Square Indoor Stadium.
At these selections both teams will be reduced to 12 each.
The coaches are hoping that the two teams will be amongst the first ten teams at the competitions.
