While the world confronts the macroeconomic impacts of the pandemic, the Russia–Ukraine conflict augments high fuel prices and food insecurity to the list of problems faced by the Global South. Apart from these issues, Sir Lanka is undergoing an economic crisis where it had to seek the IMF's US $2.9 billion package and the donor agency has called for debt restructuring for its release.
