Moved by conflict

The ethnic conflict and its consequences have deeply moved young Akila Mahagedara and today as an amateur artist he reveals his inner feelings through his art.

In “Fantasy”, his new exhibition Akila takes us to a distant world where sketches and sculptures portray deeper feelings and emotions.

Akila’s first ‘guru’ was veteran artist Kingsley Gunathilake who guided him towards a more professional approach. Akila had his first art exhibition in Kandy and has also worked as an Assistant Art Director in a teledrama called “Samanalunti Veditiyanne’’ (To hunt for butterflies).

Akila’s exhibition is on at the Alliance Francaise de kandy, until February 27.
