Popular Sri Lankan band Lankika and the Golden Chimes leave our shores on December 8 on a two months tour in Canada and USA.
The band will be in action for in Calgary for the New Year's Eve Dinner Dance organised by Sri Lanka-Canada Association in Calgary, Alberta. Golden Chimes along with DJ music provided by Chamila Perera of Cool Jays will be the very first Sri Lankan band to perform in Calgary.
'Dinner dance will be held at Blackfoot Inn Hotel inn Calgary, Alberta and this is the first time a Sri Lankan band is performing for 31st Night dance in Calgary' said Lankika Perera, the lead singer of the band.
Also Golden Chimes are billed to perform at a Concert titled 'Musical memories of Sri Lanka' organized by Sri Lanka Association in Winipeg on 12 December at Pantages Playhouse Theatre.
This too will add to history as Golden Chimes will be the very first Sri Lankan band to perform in Winipeg.
There will be another concert scheduled for the band on 17 January 2009 at Mount Royal College, Leacock Theatre in Calgary. They have been invited by Sri Lanka-Calgary Association in Calgary and sponsored by Felix Rohantha Kulasekera of Felliterix Distribution Ltd. in Calgary.
Also the band will be in action at a couple of concerts in Toronto and Los Angeles during January 2009.
'We are hoping to take all Sri Lankans living in Canada and LA back to 70s era. We will be performing in few dances organized by Sri Lanka Association in Toronto and LA and all will be 70's theme. Golden Chimes comprises of Chanaka Perera (leader/bass/vocals), Lankika Perera (vocals), Suranga Perera (guitar/vocals), Lalaka Peiris (keyboards/vocals), Kamal Gallage (drums), Eranga Fernando (congas/vocals) and Chamila Perera (vocals).
Band will be back in Sri Lanka by the end of January 2009. |
