To mark the official launch of the newest radio to hit Sri Lankan airwaves, 104.5 Radio one put a Rs.5 million cheque in the air for a lucky person to find and claim the prize money.
10,000 balloons were released last morning at exactly 8.05am from 12 prominent roundabouts located in Colombo City and the suburbs, to mark the official launch of Radio One. Inside one of these balloons was a cheque worth Rs. 5,000,000/ . The lucky person who finds this cheque, can claim the prize of Rs.5,000,000/ .
This is the largest promotion to ever be attempted by any radio station in Sri Lanka. The whereabouts of the balloon is unknown to anyone as the balloon was filled with helium gas and was placed amongst at least 600 others and let off together into the air along with the rest from one location.
Vijitha Wijesuriya - Director Operations Radio one commented: "We at Radio 1, decided we wanted to make an impact on the broadcasting and entertainment arenas in Sri Lanka and what better way to make an impact than making someones day brighter with Rs 5 Million. The promotion is interactive and everyone has the equal chance of winning as the balloon floated up into the sky and is subject to an ACT OF GOD as to when and where it may land".
Tune into 104.5FM Radio One daily where more clues will be given as to the location from where the balloon was launched, the metrological reports on the day of launch etc etc. In order to encash the cheque the winner should present it to Peoples Media Network (Private) Limited, located at 594/1, Galle Road, Colombo 3 on or before 10th December, 2008. This offer will not be valid after this date.
So be on the look out for the 5 Million Rupee Balloon or even the cheque which could be lying anywhere in Sri Lanka.
