Kimarli Fernando, a banker with over 20 years experience, has informed the Pan Asia Bank where she has been its Director/CEO since May 2008 of her intention to resign later this month. “I informed the management my intention to resign just before going abroad with the family on vacation,” she told the Sunday Times FT by telephone from overseas.
Recently Ms Fernando filed an explosive affidavit in the controversial hedging case where she revealed how the CEO and another officer at her former workplace, Standard Chartered Bank, had prepared a hedging agreement with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation which was one-sided and unfair.
“Before I took this job I said I would like to turnaround the Pan Asia Bank and then move on. Profits at the bank have doubled since then and positive changes taken place. It’s time to move on and take up other challenges,” she added. |
