Why not ‘Sri Lanka – The SPICE OF LIFE’?

Letter

What’s in a name? Everything! If the Sri Lanka Tourism tagline ‘Small Miracle’ was intended to reflect, in terms of tourism that ‘Sri Lanka although small could work miracles for you’ then the tagline in my opinion is appropriate. But as published in a Sunday newspaper, at this point in time, it doesn’t reflect the overwhelming victory over the LTTE, which in no way is a ‘Small Miracle’.

Since Sri Lanka is famed its spices and ‘variety is the spice of life’, I humbly suggest the name change as indicated above since our country has so much variety to offer the tourist. ‘We welcome you with open arms, come savour the flavour we have to offer you. The proof of the pudding is in the eating,’ that could be the message. In the meantime those responsible for a name change must act fast. If we convey an impression of uncertainty it would not augur well for the hopes and aspirations of the hospitality trade and the thousands who depend on it.
