Quarter finalists found

CWW Kannangara MMV provided the shocks in the Milo All Island under 18 ten a side inter-school rugby tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd which got underway at the Royal Sports Complex ground in Reid Avenue yesterday.

They chalked up two wins over two top schools Wesley and Thurstan to qualify to the cup quarter finals. Apart from that there were no other upsets with fancied teams booking their berth to the quarter finals which is scheduled to be played today.

Trinity another team that qualified to the Cup quarter final had the honour of chalking up the top score of the day when they beat St Sylvester’s 34-0. The other teams to qualify to the cup quarter finals were Isipathana, St Anthony’s, Dharmarajah, St Joseph’s, Ananda, and Kingswood.

The teams to qualify to the Plate quarter finals were Vidyartha, Science, Lumbini MV, Prince of Wales, Dharmapala, Royal Panadura, DSS and Wesley while the quarter finalists for the Bowl category were Nalanda, St John’s Nugegoda, Carey, Maliyadeva, Piliyandala MMV, Thurstan and St Sylvester’s who have received a walk over.

The quarter finals of the three categories will be worked off from 8.30 a.m. onwards which will be followed by the semi finals from 1.00 p.m. The finals are scheduled to be worked off from 3.00 p.m. onwards. The chief guest will be Mohan Silva the Brand Manager of Nestle Lanka Ltd who will give away the awards. -MSA
