A memorable musical tribute to the legend, Clarence Wijewardena with an unplugged show by Nalin Perera and ‘Marians’ will be held on November 21 at 7 pm at the Maris Stella indoor stadium, Negombo.
The live in concert will comprise some of the top hits of Clarence played unplugged, the style which has become popular among all ages.
‘We have been performing unplugged shows over the last two years and have realized that the popularity is growing day by day,’ Marians leader Nalin Perera said.
‘Clarence Unplugged’ will give an opportunity to both Marians fans and the music lovers of Clarence to listen to their favourite songs unplugged, vocalized exclusively by Marians.
Some of the songs that are in the list iaelude ‘Meniyani’, Clarence’s famous singing tribute to his mother and other evergreen hits like ‘Maliniye’, ‘Ramya’, ‘Dileepa Podi Puthu’, ‘Gamen Liyumak’ and ‘Sandak Besa Giya’.
In addition Marians will also render songs like ‘Ransamanalyin Igilenu Deka Mata’, ‘Eetha Epita Hima Kanden’, ‘Sihina Lowak’, ‘Re Tharakawo’ with different giutar styles and innovative presentations and the well-known ‘Suseema’ teledrama song ‘Desa Piya Gath Kala’.
‘Most importantly we are performing all these songs with the permission of Clarence’s dear wife Sheela Wijewardena after meeting with the proper legal requirements,’ Nalin said.
The ‘Marians’ consist Prasanna Rosa (Lead guitar/ acoustic guitar), Dileepa Mangala (piano), Ajith Ruwan (rhythm guitar), Chaminda Silva (bass and classical guitar), Subash Punyasoma (drums), Jayantha Kandabadage (percussion), Hector Dias (saxophone/ vocal), Shivantha Fernando (vocal) and the leader Nalin Perera (Bass guitar and vocal).
‘Clarence Unplugged’ tribute show is organized and presented by Damien Perera of Wijaya Enterprises who is also a great fan of Clarence as well as Marians. |
