A song titled ‘Sinamawe Sihina Kumaraya’, a musical tribute to late Vijaya Kumaratunga, will be released next week to commemorating actor’s death anniversary.
‘Sinamawe Sihina Kumaraya’ is composed and musically directed by singer Lucky Deva.
Lucky did a song ‘Malaniye’ in tribute to queen of Lankan cinema Malani Fonseka last year.
That was the period when elaborate plans were made to recognize and appreciate popular artistes of Sri Lanka. For his album a special song was composed and sung by Lucky Deva on behalf of Malini Fonseka, and this song is evergreen in the memory of all fans.
While processing a video clipping of this song a request was made by Tissa Nagodavithana to compose a song on behalf of late Vijaya Kumaratunga too.
‘That was the beginning of the ‘Sinamawe Sihina Kumaraya’. Accordingly in response to this I selected some of the popular films that Vijaya has acted and composed this song titled ‘Dream Prince of Cinema’ he said.
Artistes namely Roy de Silva, Channa Perera, Roshan Ranavana accompanied me in the singing Tissa Nagodavithana’s dream’ Deva added.
Nagodavithana was a sincere friend of Vijaya. So he opted to sing in this track.
‘However number of artistes, who were tipped to render their voice couldn’tmake it due to lack of time as we have to be ready for the Vijaya’s anniversary’ Lucky explained.
Popular playback singer Anjaline Goonathilake was delighted and happy to pay her role too in singing. The members of Lucky Deva’s band ‘Spirit’ Disnaka, Kamal, Lakmal, Shiraz too joined him in singing apart from providing the music backing.
This song is based on Vijaya Kumaranatunga’s maiden film on climbing Hantane Kanka (Hanthane Kathawa) up to the last film climbing the Kalwariye Kanda (Kristhu Charithaya). Also it says that a drop of tears remain in the silver screen on behalf of him. ‘I have done my best on behalf of Vijaya’ Lucky Deva expresses that this is the maximum that he could do for an artiste.
‘I believe that this is the latest song I have composed for Vijaya and not be second to the song ‘Maliniye’. I have put my heart and soul to these two songs and hope all music fans as well as movie fans do appreciate it’ he said. |
