The 4 A's gears up to meet the challenges ahead

The 4 A's BOARD

The Ad Industry's governing body elects its new Board Meeting and overcoming the industry's critical challenges in the year ahead was the underlying theme at the Annual General Meeting of the Accredited Advertising Agencies Association held recently. Incoming President, industry veteran Keith Wijesuriya (CEO, BBDO SWARA) addressed the membership on the changes the industry needed to go through in order to overcome the challenges faced by the industry as a whole. Pledging that the Board's untiring efforts would be directed towards benefiting the member agencies through the continued efforts on behalf of the industry, Keith referred to efforts already commenced in this regard and expressed confidence that these would see fruition in the months ahead.

He applauded the efforts of the out-going President, Ms Laila Gunasekera Martenstyn during the last two years, which saw the 4As profile grow in stature. He was confident that with the support of his fellow Board members and the Ad community at large, the industry could look forward to a great year ahead to build on the extremely good work done in the last two years. Remaining on the Board would be Treasurer: Dilith Jayaweera (Jt MD - Triad Advertising), Secretary: Sanith de S. Wijeyeratne (Director Strategic Brand Communication - WORDS Advertising) along with Immediate Past President: Laila Gunasekera Martenstyn (Vice President, Grant McCann Erickson)

Newcomers to the Board, Leyon Rajaratne (Brands Alley) and Firzan Mulafer (Leo Burnett) join old hands, Michael Holsinger (Triad Advertising), Dharshi Tambiah (Masters DDB), Irfan Ahamed (JWT), Chalaka Gajabahu (Lowe LDB) and Alann Lopez (5th Elephant). Together with Special Advisor to the Board, Rohan Rajaratnam (WORDS Advertising), they form an optimal mix of industry veterans and freshers alike.

The Accredited Advertising Agencies Association is the apex body of the ad industry in the Country. The association was founded with a vision to foster a vibrant self -regulated industry which while being intrinsically Sri Lankan and world class at the same time. The association encourages the creation of truly outstanding creative and effective advertising and is committed to providing leadership to the industry, the highest standards of corporate governance and being a partner to the marketing fraternity. The association constantly strives to improve the industry through professional development, professional advice to members, representing the industry with external parties and the constant peer support within the membership.
