SSC’s, off spin bowler and all rounder, 25-year-old six footer Sachitra Senanayake continued his great form with the ball and was adjudicated the Best Bowler at the recently concluded Provincial One Day Tournament. Sachitra represented Ruhuna in the competition.

He was also the most successful bowler in the competition securing 14 wickets at the lowest economy rate of 3.68 which was unmatched in the contest. Continuing his great form Sachitra ended up being the highest wicket taker in the Provincial T20 tournament. He secured 14 wickets at the lowest economy rate of 5.42 which is no mean task at the shorter version game.
Speaking after the final Senanayake said: “ I am delighted to have scored a fifty in an all important top of the range OD Final not forgetting my great performance with the ball for my team in both tournaments and in the final. However, I am disappointed my team lost.”
Asked about his immediate cricketing goals he elaborated that the Provincial 4 day is his short term challenge, and said that his vision is to be the best spin bowling all-rounder for Sri Lanka laying a lot of emphasis on his fielding which he says, he enjoys very much.
Senanayake amassed 183 wickets in 37 matches at a miserly economy rate of 2.78 for SSC this season. |
