Currently many government departments owe large sums of money to several service providers for work done or services provided. To move the internal economic activities it is vital that these dues are settled at least at this late stage. Otherwise the service industries specially the consultants to the construction industry, contractors and various other service providers will find their businesses collapsing and more unemployment created.
Such a situation is not conducive in the kind of social environment prevailing today after all have suffered throughout the past 30 years.
As such my belief is that whether the IMF loan is taken or not these dues need to be settled.
The approved loan that is available may be utilized for this purpose to rejuvenate the local economy and have an indirect impact on our other industries through re-investment by the currently-affected business community.
