The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce last week launched a project to improve conservation practices in Sri Lankan hotels.
The Greening Sri Lanka Hotels project is funded by the EU and is implemented by CCC Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, the Ceylon Chamber project implementation arm.
“The project will aim to enhance the conservation and environment practices related to energy, water and waste in Sri Lankan Hotels with emphasis on the SME sector,” said the Chamber in a press release.
Partners of the project are the Travel Foundation (UK) , Responsible Tourism Partnership, Institute of Environment Professionals Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority.
The Travel Foundation U.K is also expected to create awareness among tour operators abroad and to leverage a competitive advantage for the hotels and for Sri Lanka as a destination. One of the larger tour operators in Europe, Kuoni, has also shown interest in working with the project. |
