Kaatsu Highly Advanced Medical Training Centre was established in Sri Lanka in 2009, following a visit by Prof. Yashiaki Sato, on an invitation made by Lecturer of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura Dr. Jagath Seneviratne, who expressed willingness to introduce Kaatsu Training Methodology to Sri Lanka.
Thus as an initial introduction initiative, the Kaatsu training programme was inaugurated on March 10 2009 at the Sports Unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The event was graced by Vice Chancellor Dr. Karunaratne, Dean of the Art Faculty Prof Athukorala, Director of the Sports Council Mr. Ashoka, other staff members and students. The mechanism of the Kaatsu belt and machines were also demonstrated at the event.
Kaatsu Training consists of performing low-intensity resistance training while a relatively light and flexible cuff is placed on the proximal part of one's lower or upper limbs, which provides appropriate superficial pressure.
In line with the above programme, Kaatsu Highly Advanced Medical Training Centre would initiate its Pharmacist Training Programme, where students would be trained for the Pharmacist (external) examination conducted by the Ceylon Medical College Council. The first phase of this course would be held on August 28, 2010. |
