Chartered Accountants' Week starts Monday

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) will kick off a week of knowledge-based events for members which will culminate with its national conference. Starting with an orientation programme for new trainees and a fellowship dinner tomorrow (October 25) will conclude with a half-day technical session on Saturday, October 30, the third and final day of the ICASL National Conference.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, there will be a seminar entitled "Is our Stock Market overheated?", which features Ravi Abeysuriya - CEO, Heraymila Securities Ltd.; Ray Abeywardena - Group CEO, Acuity Partners (Pvt) Ltd.; Channa De Silva - Managing Director, LR Global Lanka Asset Mgt.; P.P.J. Perera - Senior Deputy General Manager, SLIC; Amal Sandaratne - Director, Frontier Research; and Chitra Sathkumara - CEO/Executive Director, Ceybank Asset Management (Pvt) Ltd.

On Wednesday, a CEOs’ Breakfast Forum will be held where keynote speaker Donald LaGuardia, the founder of US-based Logan Rockefeller Global, will comment on the topic of "Investing in Frontier Markets."

The final stretch of the Chartered Accountants' Week, from Thursday to Saturday, focuses on the three-day, 31st ICASL National Conference which will be held with the theme: "The world sees opportunity in Sri Lanka". The conference, which is expected to draw 1,000 delegates, features US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Patricia Butenis, and Sri Lanka's Attorney General, Mohan Pieris, as chief guests at Thursday's inaugural dinner.
