Negotiations between Shell Gas and the Sri Lankan Government on the sale of a 51% stake in the company- with Shell making an exit – are still incomplete, a company spokesperson said this week.
“Negotiations are still on. We don’t comment on the discussions which are of a confidential nature. However these are incomplete,” said Hiran Senewiratne, also Business Excellence Manager at Shell. Some weeks back the Government announced that it had finalized a deal with Shell Gas to buy its stake at a price of $63 million.
But Shell is yet to confirm this price or that the deal has been done. Since the Government announcement, there has been hectic lobbying with the authorities and through media for a purchase of this stake or management of the entity with Laugfs, the only other LPG player heading interested parties. |
