AGMs postponed

The Ministry of Sports in a media release on Friday (25) stated that it has decided to postpone the Annual General Meetings (AGM) of Sri Lanka Netball Federation, Sri Lanka Badminton Federation, Sri Lanka Squash Federation, and Sri Lanka Karate-Do Federation. This was due to pending inquiries into complaints received against the management of the four federations it added.

Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage had taken the decision through the powers vested in him by the Sports Act of 1973 Article 25, a clause which sports governing bodies of Sri Lanka are highly responsible in regard to its management issues according to the media release.

The Ministry has appointed different inquiry panels to look into the complaints made against malpractices by a few members of these federations. The Ministry further stated that the AGMs will be postponed indefinitely until the inquiries are concluded and clear verdicts are given.
