The CIMA Sri Lanka division and the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors have pioneered an initiative of utmost importance in today’s business and economic climate by launching the corporate Directors Handbook which covers the roles, responsibilities and frameworks to maximise effective performance and governance as a corporate Director.

Various members of both CIMA Sri Lanka and The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors were instrumental in authoring and editing this publication. The launch of this publication took place at the CIMA Sri Lanka Division at 6pm on 25 November 2011. B.D.W.A Silva, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, graced the event as Chief Guest, and highlighted the importance of effective and value oriented governance to assist Sri Lanka’s economic development. Ronnie Peiris, President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors, Shiromi Rajendra, Chairperson of the CIMA Sri Lanka Board and Bradley Emerson, Regional Director, Middle East, South Asia and North Africa deliberated on the importance of an initiative such as the Corporate Directors Handbook as a guide to Corporate Directors considering the present dynamic and uncertain business climate.
A review of the publication was done by Dr. Harsha Cabral, who is on the boards of companies such as Hayleys PLC, Union Bank of Colombo PLC, Lanka Orix Finance PLC and Tokyo Cement Lanka PLC among others, commended CIMA and SLID’s joint effort in turning out such a publication as it fulfills a longstanding need to have a structured framework to guide Directors to perform duties considering the best interest of the shareholders of an organisation. Union Assurance PLC and Media Services (Pvt) Ltd partnered CIMA in this unique initiative.
