Special Education Loans for their customers who go for overseas education in any country. The special features of this Loan Scheme are;
There is a Grace Period of 4 years. This means that the borrowers do not have to
repay the Loan during the first 4 years. Only the interest has to be paid during this period.
After 4 years, they will have further 5 years to repay the Loan so that the entire repayment period is 9 years.
Only one security OR two guarantors required, NOT both.
The Grace Period of four years is very useful to students and their parents. This means that they do not have to repay the capital element of the Loan during the first four years but they will have to pay only the Interest element. If a student borrows Rs.1,000,000( One million Rupees ), he will have to repay only the interest of Rs.12,000( Twelve Thousand Rupees approx ) per month for four years.
After four years, the student will have five years to repay the Loan together with the interest. This means that if a student borrows Rs.1,000,000( One million Rupees ), he will have to repay
Rs.24,000( Twenty four thousand rupees approx ) per month for the next five years.
This Education Loan requires only one property as a security OR two guarantors to sign for the Loan but NOT both. Most Education Loans in Sri Lanka require both, a property as a security and also two guarantors to sign for the Loan.
