PS chairman and 7 others further remanded

Tangalle killing of Brit on Christmas 2011

Tangalle Magistrate and Additional District Judge Uresha de Silva ordered this week to further remand the eight suspects accused of killing a British national and assaulting his Russian girlfriend on Christmas day, last year.

They were remanded till March 6. The suspects include Chairman- Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha, Sampath Vidanapathirana. British national M.Z. Shaif was killed and his Russian girlfriend Victoria Alexandra critically injured in the incident at a hotel in Tangalle.

The van in which the suspects had travelled was released to its owner on a bond of Rs 1.2 million.
