An association which is famous for hurling and bashing held its annual general meeting recently. A law officer who had been holding the post of president for the past five years was once again elected to be its head, what is more it is said that he is frm the Hill Country. Anyway, those who backed him to the top spot in the body are not all that above water as five of them had jumped from the national team whilst on a tour abroad and have now come to dictate terms in the sport.
Not paid their dues
Junior cricket they say is the future of the country but what happens when those who uphold the law in the said sport have not been paid their dues for the past one year? These upholders of the said sport’s rules are said to be deeply in debt and are now wondering how they could make ends meet. Perhaps it would be better to see that their dues are settled after all without them the game cannot run and then what will happen to the sport which is very popular in the country?
Battle hardened
It was all pomp and pageantry as a schools sports body held its annual prize distribution. Since it was an under 19 event all the parents and officials were their in all their glory to see their wards being presented for the things they had done during the year. It was however distasteful to see some of the officials getting on stage and accepting the awards on the name of the schools they represent. Couldn’t they see that the lads concerned got on stage instead of these battle hardened characters?
Settling things amicably
The event was a much looked forward to event in the Southern Province. This battle is known as the tussle of the lovers but it was not all that cuddlesome this year. When the souvenir of this mighty sport for this year was released it was found to contain erroneous facts and one of those in charge of the souvenir even had a son playing in one of the teams. Now the other party involved in this game has threatened that if this trend continues there will be ‘no quarrel’ next year. This statement has caused quite a furor in both camps and they are now trying to settle the issue amicably. Just for the record one side has won the game twenty times while their opponents have won the battle on twenty two occasions.
The worried Top Man
With the London Olympics looming large as ever the key body involved has not held its AGM. It is said that those who are vying for spots in this august body are not qualified. So the order has gone that those who expect to be elected to this sport’s governing body should attach their qualifications as well with their applications. Now the Top Man in the sport too is worried as the people whom he wants to be elected too have not got the necessary qualifications!
Not about pep pills
The Ch- Andare of schools Oval ball has been talking about “too many injuries to school boys” and to reduce the time to 70. Why does he not talk about the Kidney issues forced by taking pep pills when there was no dopey tests and made the boys do wonders . Heard from the BMICH corridors where the governors of ruuugbby are now asking wh... wh ... wha ... what ?
Shocked beyond belief
Schoolboys and cricketers were shocked to see two of their coaches going for each others throats after a final held in Colombo. One team is from the Hill Capital and the other team Bamba. It took a while to separate them as they were so intent on squeezing the lights out of their bodies. The lads of course were shocked beyond belief that their coaches could behave in such a manner. |
