Sakina Zoeb from ANC Education is the recent recipient of the Award of Excellence for the Monash College Diploma Part 2 in Engineering Studies. The Award of Excellence is awarded every semester by Monash College Australia to the student who receives the highest results from the Undergraduate Diploma conducted in several Monash Colleges across the Asian region and Australia.
Giving his views on the success of their Engineering students, Dr Nuraj Rajapakse (Dean – Monash College programmes in Sri Lanka) said “it gives us pride that we have produced four such outstanding students from the Diploma of Engineering in Sri Lanka.” Previous ANC Education recipients of the Award of Excellence for the Diploma Part 2 in Engineering Studies are Shehara Prinesh Fernando, Habeebullah Mohamed Illiyas and Sujan Warnkulasooriya.

Sakina joined Monash College Sri Lanka in February 2011 after successfully sitting for A/Levels at Buhari Serendib International School,Sri Lanka. Sakina’s hope is to become an engineer. Moreover she was looking for a well recognized qualification. These reasons prompted her to commence studies at ANC Education as she was able to choose the Bachelor of Engineering pathway and graduate from one of the world’s top 100 universities*.
Sharing her thoughts on receiving the award Sakina said “I completed my Diploma with a total average of 92% which turned out to be the highest score from all the students who completed the Diploma Part 2 in Engineering Studies this semester, including the students in Australia. I am so happy to receive this award – I really worked hard and it’s great to be rewarded for it! I thank my lecturers for the guidance they gave me to bring out my true potential.”
Talking about studying a Monash College programme Sakina said, “The method of teaching included interesting practical exercises such as building scaled down versions of bridges. But my most memorable moments are the field trips” says Sakina.
At ANC Education, students with A/Levels may be accepted into the Monash College Diploma Part 2, available in Engineering and Business streams. In the Diploma part 2, students undertake the equivalent of first year studies at Monash University.
