Rajan Yatawara, former Chairman and CEO of Hayleys PLC in 2004-2007, passed away on Tuesday.
He was the founder Managing Director of Haycarb PLC and once raised the issue of the group losing some state contracts and tenders because it refused to pay bribes. In a newspaper interview in 2006, Mr. Yatawara had blamed corruption for ‘killing’ local industry and had stressed: “We don’t go behind politicians or officials but play by the book.” - ENDS -
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
