Mihin Lanka, the national carrier’s subsidiary, on Monday said it would be discontinuing flights with effect from 30th October.
In a note issued by SriLankan Airlines CEO Suren Ratwatte, who is also Mihin CEO, to 'travel partners', the budget carrier said SriLankan would be taking over the routes which the budget carrier flew on. The 9-year old carrier had scheduled flights to Bahrain, Dhaka, Jakarta, Lahore, the Maldives, Muscat and Seychelles and in India to Chennai, Gaya, Kolkata, Madurai and Varanasi.
The scrapping of the budget carrier is part of long-term, restructuring plans which includes bringing a foreign management partner on board, to make the national carrier viable again. - ENDS -
